They are not demonstrating grandmasters results but it does not prove that they
are not playing grandmaster level chess.

They are not demonstrating grandmasters results because the humans can choose if
to play or not to play them and it gives the humans an advantage.

I think that the only tournament that it is logical to count(in order to decide
if the machines play in grandmaster level) is the dutch championship because in
this tournament the humans were forced to play the machine.

I think that Fritz had performance of more than 2500 in this tournament and this
is a GM level.

Maybe Fritz could get a better performance in this tournament but the programmer
did not try to win on time.

Unfortunately Games of 120/40+60/all of the game are common in today's
tournaments and it gives computers an advantage and even in the dutch
championship the time control was 120/40+60/20+30/all the rest of the game.

tournaments of 10-20 years ago were played often in 120/40+60/20+60/20+...

There is a question what time control do you mean when you ask if computers play
at GM level because 120/40+60/all like the israeli league is not the same as
120/40+60/20+60/20....

In the israeli league computers had the disadvantage that the opponent teams
could choose the player to choose against the machine but inspite of this fact
both Rebel and shredder(if you do not count losing on time by an operator error
in a won position) performed at GM level.

I think that in 120/40+60/all computers are clearly at GM level(it can be
changed if more players will be interested in playing against computers and
taking advantage of the machine's weaknesses).

The question if computers are at GM level in 120/40+60/20+60/20... is a
different question.
