You can download a demo at http://161.58.237.201/download/f6demo.zip to get the
hang of the program. Once you've bought the program and registered online you
will be able to obtain a patch upgrading it to (as called) the Fritz 6a version.

If you're looking for software without bugs, please visit Mercury, Saturn,
Uranus or Pluto, AFAIK never physically contacted with Earth's software.

Fritz is a strong playing program with lots of tweakable features, and with a
powerful database functiion, not surprisingly for a company call ChessBase.

If you're out for the fun and the accidental playing program, better choose
ChessMaster, some say CM7000 is a bit buggy, and CM6000 should be still around
for a few bucks. A lot of people love the lots of personalities with different
strengths and styles, and possibilities to create complex new personalities
yourself. However opening book editing is a mystery, and database functions are
less.

BTW you are not buying a second hand car. It's relatively new software, and it's
supposed to run smoothly most of the time with essentials today's chess players
want. If it doesn't, there should be service under guarantee around.

If you're going for strenght alone you could also give your thoughts to
Shredder 4.
