Fritz is an excellent buy.Other people might say that this and that program is better but taste and personal preference is an undeniable factor here. When it comes to strength, you got to be a real good professional to bash it often, capability wise: you hardly can go wrong with Fritz.Shredder, Chessmaster and the rest are also good but if you think of getting Fritz, go ahead, it can never be a poor choice.
