Hi, Thanks again to Dann Corbit for pointing out bugs in Faile ;) The changes made will improve stability of Faile (Faile was accessing some areas of memory that it possibly shouldn't have due to missing some out of bounds array cases), and it will also improve play somewhat, as some of the data it wasn't accessing properly is related to play, and now it is being used properly. I have also added license.txt to the distributions and the readme. Faile is covered by the MIT License (basically, this license says that Faile is copyrighted by me, that there is no warranty, and that you can do whatever you want with it as long as you include the license), but I had forgotten to indicate this anywhere other than in the source, which is not so smart :P The updates are now on the webpage. (http://faile.sourceforge.net) There is also a new download choice: faile14_nb.zip - which is the same as faile14.zip, except it doesn't have a book. This is good if you already have a book made for Faile and don't feel like downloading the new version with the book included, or if you still want to use the default book, but want the new bugfixed .exe and such. The new version doesn't change book format/access, so your old books should still work. FYI - I am on the organizing committee for the Canadian Open 2000, being held in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada. Two things here: - I will be fairly busy working on the tournament starting Wednesday, and will be busy with it for a week or two following that, so if you want anything done for Faile, let me know ASAP, since I won't have much time to look at it during the tournament. - if you are coming to the tournament, make sure to say hi to me! ;) As far as the tournament itself goes - there is something computer chess enthusiasts may be interested in - GM Joel Benjamin will be giving a lecture at the tournament, and I believe the topic will be the Kasparov - Deep Blue match. You can find out more about the tournament at: http://members.home.net/cdnopen2000/ Regards, Adrien.
