If I try to run Rebel from one of the PIFs It won't let me load the 60
Mb
of hash. If I try to run it with the Rebel.exe in Windows, I get the
slowdown. I have tried it in DOS mode in WIN 95 on the Tecra and
everything is okay . BUT See the following:
Running Rebel 9 with level at 10 ply with a 4 Mb hash table and no
opening
books loaded, it took:

Running on Toshiba machine which has 144Mb RAM and is 166Mhz.
In Win 95 from the Rebel.exe - 3 minutes 18 seconds
Booting up in DOS - 2 minutes and 7 seconds
In DOS mode from Win 95 desktop - 1 minute and 38 seconds

Running Rebel on my other laptop, a 133 Mhz Magitronic with 40Mb. Ram .
I used the same settings including 4 Mb hash table ,

In Win 95 from the Rebel.exe - 4:05
Booting up in DOS - 5:07
In DOS mode from the Win 95 desktop - 3:33

I did the same thing with Nimzo 3 on both machines:

On Magitronic machine
Nimzo 3 as an icon on the WIN95 desktop - 6:50
Booting up in DOS - 3:38
In DOS mode from the Win 95 desktop -6:13

On Toshiba Tecra
Nimzo 3 as an icon on WIN 95 desktop -4:17
booting up in DOS - 2:48
DOS mode from Win 95 desktop - 3:41.

Can anyone make sense of these figures?
