Go up one level in this thread

I have had the same experience there: my credit card was charged twice, and
after extensive communications with lots of excuses I never received the CDR
anyhow. The credit card company returned one of the payments, as I tried to get
the CDR for the other payment, of course.
That was also 1998, mind you, I hope that commercial things are better now over
there.

The free client is very well suited to play online, and basically there are more
than enough free clients for use under the various ICS's. Maybe even the demo
version of Chess Partner 4.3 could be used for connection to Chess.net, I don't
know for sure.

The main difference then was the inclusion of a big database, but as I acquired
another high quality one, there's no need anymore for me.
Furthermore there were 3D-boards I hate anyhow, so don't bother if you think the
same.
In the first free client of Chess.net you had Roboman, basically Crafty. They
removed that in the now existing client and put that in the paid one.

I stayed with Chess.net as I like interface & place, although I never got a
refund for my payment. It doesn't deserve a beauty price, but I rested and
considered the 50 bucks as a donation for the free play. A lousy performance of
Chess.net and *me* as well, but sometimes you just give up.
