I agree. The Mindscape products are aimed at the most lucrative market. I don't understand why the ordinary consumer would want to continue investing their money in new Chessbase products, when there's only a marginal improvement from version to version AFAIK, unless your a chess addict :o). If you can't beat the old version you won't be able to beat the new one, and the engine vs. engine feature wears off without constantly investing in new programs. The only advantage would be improved analysis, but I don't think the improvements in evaluation quality are sufficient to warrent constant investments. If I had to buy commercial software I would wait for CB8 and maybe a new version of a pure chess program like Shredder, Hiarcs or Rebel Tiger and don't buy new software for several years.
