Graham Laights answer is, however honest, and very well put.
I also would much prefer to see computers winning for more worthy reasons than
they sometimes do.
But for me personally, I really hope that the next generation of top software
will be making great strides in this respect, as this will definately be the
last generation that I will be buying chess playing software. Life is short,
and I want to move on to other things already, and chess, and even more-chess
computers,(as my interest in computer chess stems from my interest in chess, so
I certainly can't make it my life-long ambition-to wait for better software),
Is not the greatest of contributors to self growth, and the time and energy it
takes, sucks.
So whilst I'm still trying to improve my chess, I soon hope to reach
satisfaction, then progress to other endeavors. I'll make do with the next
generation of software. I might upgrade my computer to Thunderbirds 800mhz.
And I don't think that till the end of time, any human or machine could ever
beat it 10-0. Maybe not even 6-0. So it will always be somewhat competitive. But
even that doesn't matter either. It is just another one of my predictions.
