Anyway, asking myself this question I realized that it is usually not professionnal softwares that seemed to play a more human game but rather programs like Virtual Chess, Chess System Tal or ChessMaster ! It is hard to believe that these engines seemed more "human" because they are weaker. Even if they are mass-market product, VC and CM at least are probably as strong as many professionnal engines. Anyway, all this is really subjective so the best way is probably to try them and make up your mind. You can for example connect to ICS and play some game agains some of them online. You probably also could test some free winboard engines like phalanx or programs like rebel decade that, as far as I can judge, play interesting chess. good luck, Ujecrh
