I think that a good program shouldn't have as much as possible chess knowledge, because it would mean slower calculations. IMHO: The best program would be a compromise: having enough chess knowledge and enough speed. Probably most (or all) todays chess programs would need more knowledge than they have. But I believe someday one could add too much knowledge at speed's expense. And a faster searching program will find holes (they always exist) in that knowledge and win. Jari
