Good question.  I think that was the critical mistake by DJ.
However, taking the knight on d2 was perhaps an eval problem
for closed positions.  It took a lot longer than I thought for
the Super GM's to dispatch the beast.  I still expect a couple
more draws at least from DJ, perhaps a win as white late in the
tournament.  :)
