The game:

[Event "?"]
[Site "New York USA-ch 4th match"]
[Date "1857.??.??"]
[Round "6"]
[White "Paulsen, L"]
[Black "Morphy, P"]
[Result "0-1"]
[ECO "C48"]
[Opening "Four knights"]
[Variation "Spanish, classical defence"]

1.e4 e5 2.Nf3 Nc6 3.Nc3 Nf6 4.Bb5 Bc5 5.O-O O-O 6.Nxe5 Re8 7.Nxc6 dxc6 8.Bc4 b5

The position before:

acs 31; ce 42; pv Qf5 d4 Rg6 Be2 Be6 Ra1 Bd5 f3 f6;

The position after:
[D] 4r1k1/p1pb1ppp/Qbp1r3/8/1P6/2P2q2/R2P1PPP/2B2RK1 w - - acd 12; acn 5253495;
acs 31; ce -82; pv gxf3 Rg6+ Kh1 Bh3 Qd3 f5 Qc4+ Kf8 Qh4 Bxf1 h3 Bxh3 Kh2 Rh6
Qg3;

This position can be used to determine if a computer uses NULL move pruning or
not. I am fairly sure that is what is going on here. Once you make the move,
Crafty quickly sees that it is better than its previous choice.
