Subject: Fritz 6 user Instructions - Special Thanks To Jeroen van Dorp

Special Thanks To Jeroen van Dorp for putting up the site below

http://www.chessbaseusa.com/T-NOTES/etn.htm

I'm by no means new to chess software but I am a new Fritz user.

I was finding many features and aspects of the interface operation completely
baffling.

This site gives, among other things, a detailed user manual almost 80 pages in
size! Absolutely what I needed as I was about to give up, throw Fritz in the
garbage and go back to ChessMaster.

Now I can say Fritz is a great program and I'm happy to have it.

The very existance of this user manual, however, does underscore my concern with
the user documentation and on screen help that Fritz 6 comes with.

The author of this other manual goes on quite a bit about the number of emails
he receives about using Fritz 6's features.

If an additional 80 pages are required to explain it, then I would have to
conclude the following:

a) I'm not an idiot after al1.
b) The user interface designer did a poor job
c) the documentation that comes with Fritz 6 is very poor.

Still, I must conclude in the end that it was worth the struggle.

David
