Certainly, that makes perfect sense: why should ChessBase give >the Fritz 6 engine (and thus effectively Fritz 6) away for free to anyone who >owns one of their previous 32-bit programs? What puzzles me is why the >ChessBase website doesn't seem to address this issue. I hope this will clear up the question which was raised initially upon the release of the F6 demo. The engine Fritz 6 Light is the same engine as originally released as Fritz 6. This engine was limited to 32 MB hash tables in any other Chessbase interface. The original Fritz 6 was then upgraded to Fritz 6 Old, at this point a new engine Fritz 6 was installed. IMHO the current Fritz 6a is clearly the best of the three. You can see some games by Fritz 6 Old at my website: http://www.geocities.com/chessfun_1999 This engines being the same can be proved by analysis. Analysis of the three engines Fritz 6a (now Fritz 6) Fritz 6 original eng (now Fritz 6 Old) and Fritz 6 Light in a given position, each using 32 MB hash....thus: DEEP JUNIOR 6 - Akopian,V 2r5/3k1pr1/p3q1p1/Pp1pPpPp/1PpP1Q2/2P4R/5PPK/4R3 b - - 0 1 Analysis by Fritz 6 Light: 45...Re8 46.Rf1 Kd8 47.Rh4 Rgg8 48.Rh1 = (0.12) Depth: 10/17 00:00:00 63kN 45...Re8 46.Rf1 Rgg8 47.Rh1 Kd8 48.Qf3 Re7 49.Rh4 = (-0.03) Depth: 11/21 00:00:01 196kN 45...Re8 46.Rf1 Rgg8 47.Rh1 Kd8 48.Qf3 Re7 49.Rh4 Rge8 50.Qf4 = (-0.09) Depth: 12/23 00:00:02 486kN 45...Re8 46.Rf1 Rgg8 47.Rh1 Kd8 48.Qf3 Re7 49.Rh4 Rge8 50.Qf4 = (-0.09) Depth: 13/24 00:00:05 1081kN 45...Re8 46.Rf1 Rgg8 47.Rh1 Kd8 48.Qf3 Re7 49.Rh4 Rge8 50.Qf4 = (-0.09) Depth: 14/28 00:00:08 2050kN 45...Re8 46.Rf1 Rgg8 47.Rh1 Kd8 48.Qf3 Re7 49.Rh4 Rge8 50.Qf4 = (-0.09) Depth: 15/30 00:00:20 5257kN 45...Re8 46.Rf1 Rgg8 47.Rh1 Kd8 48.Qf3 Re7 49.Rh4 Rge8 50.Qf4 = (-0.09) Depth: 16/32 00:00:37 10295kN 45...Re8 46.Rf1 Rgg8 47.Rh1 Kd8 48.Qf3 Re7 49.Rh4 Rge8 50.Qf4 = (-0.09) Depth: 17/35 00:01:28 24745kN Analysis by Fritz 6 Old: 45...Re8 46.Rf1 Kd8 47.Rh4 Rgg8 48.Rh1 = (0.12) Depth: 10/17 00:00:00 63kN 45...Re8 46.Rf1 Rgg8 47.Rh1 Kd8 48.Qf3 Re7 49.Rh4 = (-0.03) Depth: 11/21 00:00:01 196kN 45...Re8 46.Rf1 Rgg8 47.Rh1 Kd8 48.Qf3 Re7 49.Rh4 Rge8 50.Qf4 = (-0.09) Depth: 12/23 00:00:02 486kN 45...Re8 46.Rf1 Rgg8 47.Rh1 Kd8 48.Qf3 Re7 49.Rh4 Rge8 50.Qf4 = (-0.09) Depth: 13/24 00:00:04 1082kN 45...Re8 46.Rf1 Rgg8 47.Rh1 Kd8 48.Qf3 Re7 49.Rh4 Rge8 50.Qf4 = (-0.09) Depth: 14/28 00:00:08 2055kN 45...Re8 46.Rf1 Rgg8 47.Rh1 Kd8 48.Qf3 Re7 49.Rh4 Rge8 50.Qf4 = (-0.09) Depth: 15/30 00:00:20 5325kN 45...Re8 46.Rf1 Rgg8 47.Rh1 Kd8 48.Qf3 Re7 49.Rh4 Rge8 50.Qf4 = (-0.09) Depth: 16/32 00:00:37 10375kN 45...Re8 46.Rf1 Rgg8 47.Rh1 Kd8 48.Qf3 Re7 49.Rh4 Rge8 50.Qf4 = (-0.09) Depth: 17/39 00:01:28 24899kN Analysis by Fritz 6: 45...Kc7 46.Rh1 Kd7 = (0.00) Depth: 10/19 00:00:00 40kN 45...Kc7 46.Rh1 Kd7 = (0.00) Depth: 11/19 00:00:00 74kN 45...Kc7 46.Rh4 Kb8 47.Rh1 Re8 48.Kg1 Rc8 49.R4h3 Re8 50.Kh2 = (0.19) Depth: 12/20 00:00:01 182kN 45...Kc7 46.Rh4 Kb8 47.Rh1 Re8 48.Kg1 Rc8 49.R4h3 Re8 50.Rh4 = (0.00) Depth: 13/27 00:00:01 425kN 45...Kc7 46.Rh4 Kb8 47.Rh1 Re8 48.Kg1 Rc8 49.R4h3 Re8 50.Rh4 = (0.00) Depth: 14/24 00:00:02 609kN 45...Kc7 46.Rh4 Kb8 47.Rh1 Re8 48.Kg1 Rc8 49.R4h3 Re8 50.Rh4 = (0.00) Depth: 15/29 00:00:04 1086kN 45...Kc7 46.Rh4 Kb8 47.Rh1 Re8 48.Kg1 Rc8 49.R4h3 Re8 50.Rh4 = (0.00) Depth: 16/37 00:00:07 1958kN 45...Kc7 46.Rh4 Kb8 47.Rh1 Re8 48.Kg1 Rc8 49.R4h3 Re8 50.Rh4 = (0.00) Depth: 17/34 00:00:13 3683kN 45...Kc7 46.Rh4 Kb8 47.Rh1 Re8 48.Kg1 Rc8 49.R4h3 Re8 50.Rh4 = (0.00) Depth: 18/37 00:00:26 7205kN 45...Kc7 46.Rh4 Kb8 47.Rh1 Re8 48.Kg1 Rc8 49.R4h3 Re8 50.Rh4 = (0.00) Depth: 19/38 00:00:55 15058kN 45...Kc7 46.Rh4 Kb8 47.Rh1 Re8 48.Kg1 Rc8 49.R4h3 Re8 50.Rh4 = (0.00) Depth: 20/39 00:01:50 29928kN (Bird, Scarb 14.07.2000) Thanks.
