If it walks like a duck, and looks like a duck it's most likely a duck. The question has always been can PC programs perform at a GM level on current hardware. The answer is yes, and it’s doing much better then that, it is performing at a super GM level as we speak. Junior 6 has achieved such a result in an all play all tournament at tournament time controls in a super GM tourney. And I disagree with the argument that it will take 3 years for the public to be able to buy a machine as fast as the one Deep Junior is playing on, since if you have the money you can buy such a machine now. In three years time a PIII 700*8 will be junk at the pace we are going. Right now Junior is about 3.5 times as fast as what I am running. In 6 month or less I will be able to double my speed again, and that is just with a single CPU.
