This forum is neither like a chat room, nor is it like a game of chess with clocks! I'm sure we've all experienced the chess position where we want to think more deeply, but we're so short of time that we just make the move that we want to make - and, lo and behold, it's wrong! If someone is out-thinking you in this forum, you have time to cogitate over your arguments. You even have time to find web sites (or read books) on whatever you're debating (or on how to be creative, or how to construct a good argument, or whatever) before you make your reply. Of course - if you discover that the argument you're putting forth is a fundamentally bad position, then, like the chess analogy, you may have to swallow your pride and admit defeat (as I have done in the past) - even the best Grand Masters have to resign sometimes! But short of this, if you take your time, think carefully about your "opponents" arguments, and come up with a good response, there's really no excuse for being unable to defend your position in this forum. -g
