This last week has been the most exciting chess week since the 97 DB-KK match. Tomorrow should be a great day for P. ConNers and DJ, win - lose - draw. :) DJ and P. ConNers have both played well enough to get GM norms (if FIDE actually gave them to programs/hardware). Both DJ and P. ConNers will get TPR's higher than 2600, perhaps even higher than 2700 (2702 if DJ wins and 2703 if P. ConNers wins). Both are within .5 points of beating 96 DB. This should be a very exciting day. Here are the TPR's for all 2600 or near 2600 performances: Date Event Program HW TPR Opp Avg + = - Tot May-97 Match IBM DBII Spec 2862 2795 2 3 1 6 Jul-00 Lipps P. Top 100 GM strength performance and perhaps higher! The authors of DJ and P. ConNers have made significant strides in improving the programs to get the most out of the hardware. I will give a full report after the games tomorrow. :) Best Regards, Chris Carson
