There are already 64 CPU SMP Alpha machines in beta today.  They are made by
Compaq.

Two years from now, when the 21464 chip comes out, I predict that such a machine
could be world champion, if that was their desire.  It could do Deep Blue
numbers in software!  Compaq makes some of the best hardware on earth.  Too bad
it doesn't get the market share it deserves.  And if IBM got interested enough,
they could surely make things interesting again at any time.
