Of course, nobody knows more about the program than the author.

Not really. I wanted to test the programs at settings most people use in their
tournaments. If I'm successful to modify some of the engines coming with source
code I would like to compile some special version which are allways pondering.
And then compare the performance of such a version playing against another
strong engine playing with ponder=off (1st test) and ponder=on (2nd test).
