Both men (or teams, rather) might be fairly sure.  But all-or-nothing style
income is for fools.  Will you work under conditions like that?  The men on both
sides of that fence are brilliant -- among the best in the world without
question.  Both have incredible ideas that border on genius.  Couldn't one party
be mistaken that their ideas are best, considering the competition?

Do not consider my reply as meaning I don't like the idea of the contest.  I
think that contest would be more thrilling than anything else I would like to
see accomplished in the game of chess.  I just don't like the financing idea.
We have to find something that will capture the imagination of the world like
Deep Blue verses Kasparov did.  At that point, such a development could be
funded.
