You got it. At the time I was really wondering what people expect from
a chess engine nowadays and Internet is an easy way to get an impression.

Exactly. Many love to solve difficult test positions with the help of a
chess program or play auto232 games do analysis etc. Not all like to play
against it only. At the time I was mainly interested on peoples opinion
how to spend my (programming) time on the engine. Alternative lesser
important questions were about a possible difference in performance between
human-comp and comp-comp. Here the poll is certainly leading people to answer
as I was (and still am) convinced of that and the introduction to the poll is
full of it. It doesn't deserve the prize for beauty I know, on the other hand
the point was too important (and complicated) to let it pass and perhaps get
an unfounded answer in return.

Another intriguing piece of information was the simple question who is best
in human-comp and comp-comp and compare the 2 lists. Quite risky but I was
too eager to know and couldn't resist to ask. Today the 2 lists are hopelessly
out-dated since newer versions are around and quite a few new events have
passed (GM challenge, Dutch-ch, Israel League, Dortmund, latest SSDF list).
