The following text comes from Fritz’s help system explaining the handicap option. “If you give a high value (e.g. 200 = two pawns) Fritz will reduce its strength considerably. Afterwards the program will adjust your handicap to reflect your real playing strength. The smaller your handicap, the stronger you are. Top players will indeed achieve a negative handicap. If after about six games Fritz sets your handicap to below –400 (= minus four pawns) you will be well advised to practice elementary chess tactics and to concentrate on avoiding material loss.” 1. Shouldn’t the last sentence read, “If after about six games Fritz sets your handicap above 400 (= four pawns) you….”? If I understand this concept correctly, the weaker the player the higher the handicap, thus the higher the number. That’s the only way “top players will indeed achieve a negative handicap”. Right? 2. Regarding endgame tablebases, this quote is in Fritz’s help system, “The endgame databases are in the Nalimov format and are know as "Tablebases". They are in the directory \TBs on your Fritz CD.” Does this mean that the Fritz Endgame Turbo is included in the Fritz6 program? If not, is it worth purchasing given the existing endgame database in Frtiz6? 3. I’m playing a lot of my games as Black. I particularly want to practice against Queen pawn openings. Normally I have to take back Fritz’s initial move until it plays e4. Can I build a separate database of e4 openings and use that database to practice against? Thanks for any advice....
