In my eyes are not the professional programmers the best chess programmers.
Amateur programmers have in the month ~15 hours for his chess programs. And for
this time are in my eyes the amateur programs GENIAL !!!

Look how strong played AnMon, Phalanx, Comet, Amy, TCBishop, SOS, LGoliath, Yace
and the others. 100-150 weaker than professional programs.

Professional programmers work more then 15 hours in the week.

I think that ...

Insomniac, Gandalf, Zarkov, Junior, Fritz, Hiarcs, Shredder, The King are very
good chess programs. James Robertson from Insomniac is 17 years young, his chess
program 2 years young. Look how strong Insomniac plays in the WT-6 tourney by
Christian Koch, Kai Skibbe and myself.

Furthermore, Crafty is a very interesting program. The source code is fantastic.
I understand more and more when I read the source (I learn at the moment
programming, when I have time).

All chess programs are interesting and programmers have more time or have not
more time for his programs.

I had forgotten, Kallisto is a very interesting program but Bart Weststrate has
(my information) not more interest to work on Kallisto.

The most of my favorite programs are programs from France. I like this to see
how many good programs comming from France. The programmers are very nice, give
informations and write with ...heart... about computer chess. When I talk with a
France chess programmer (and I mean all) about a problem I get a long answere
with a lot of details. Clearly also other amateur programmers but I will say
computer chess in France is very very popular. Tourney in Massy, France-ch ...

GuruChess, Nejmet, BBChess, Dragon, Chess Wizard, Capture, ZChess, Knightx,
Virtual Chess, Chess Tiger, AnMon and the others ...

I think in 2-3 years is not Netherland, Germany or American the Computer Chess
Nation number 1, it is France !

And in America ?
Here we have strong programs (Crafty, Zarkov, Insomniac, EXchess, CilkChess and
other) but not an interesting event, OK the best chess forum :-))

Frank
