Probably because it is a mass market program and 95% of the people who will buy
this at their computer software store want to just play chess. They do not care
about opening books.

In Australia, chessmaster is sold in most stores that stock computer games and
software. Were it is near impossible to find Fritz, Rebel, Shredder, or any
other popular chess program, other than getting it from my chess store. Only one
place I know where I am, otherwise I would have to order it from another state.

Professional engine, Crappy interface. But from what I hear its getting better
with CM8K.

Just a shame that people were telling them what to do when CM6K was released.
Just that they did not listen and served us up a sub-standard CM7K.

We can only hope.

Remember CM series is mass market software. Not for us chess software nuts who
only want the best in engine and interface to meet all our chess needs.
