From the 1997 WMCC. 6k1/3p4/3rp3/8/1P6/1PK2R2/8/8 b - - id"Eugen 7.2 - Crafty"; Despite white's nice King position and advanced queen side pawn can black still hold the draw here? Would Rc6+ followed by K-g7 draw? White's only winning hope remains, as in the game, to promote the b pawn but in the R-c6+ line this will take longer. Black in the mean time can carefully advance his own pawns and King, eventually giving up his Rook for the passed pawn. I've tried many variations here, some even ending up with a black advantage. Any analysis enthusiasts that can contribute to this possible line for black? This is a common theme in rook endings with pawns (namely to give up the rook and draw with the advance of pawns and king on the other wing). Can this type of knowledge be programmed to assist the search, which is often quite deep?
