The score is pretty close to the same either way. After b5, my score is -.8 after 15 plies. After Rad8 it likes Bxe5 with a score of +1.0 (remember I have a bit of asymmetry). So it seems that this is not a tactical situation at all, it is all about judging white's two passed pawns. But with any reasonable time limit, crafty would play b5. I don't know that I can search as deeply as they did, to see if b5 drops enough to make it play something else. But it is possible...
