(Continued) ... Lynx is a fast browser, but I haven't figured out how to make long posts). C) [Reminds me of the "Little Red Hen" childrens' story - who does the work?] For the "requirements" end of things, you could certainly poll the people in Group A, and see which of them would be willing to review requirements, code, alpha test, beta test, etc., this. People I'd talk to: - Programmers like Chris, Ed, Bob, Matthias, etc. - People that have actually done interface things, like those who worked on the Auto232, ICS, and FICS interfaces. Note also that "BattleChess", though it may get little r.g.c.c. respect, has a modem interface that is cross-platform (Mac and PC, at least), and is interoperable with the Mac program CheckMate (Whittington engine). I mainly know Mac folks, but here are a few who might be interested (and the comm protocols, at least, should be machine-independent, and it wouldn't be a bad idea if most of the code were, too). - Dan Oetting <oetting@gldfs.cr.usgs.gov> has shown interest in the past, and apparently has a "text" interface between his engine and all interface stuff. - r.exner@trl.oz.au (Rolf Exner) has a simple comp-comp protocol supported by Crafty Mac, GNUChess Mac, MacChess 3.0.e, ZZZZZZ Mac Richard A.
