#7 is indeed interesting. Some programs will sac the Knight right away, on positional grounds, before seeing much tangible compensation. Whether this behavior is good or not is not clear - sometimes you'll win faster this way, and sometimes you won't. Fritz predictably goes for it right way, but Junior doesn't. Arasan 5.4 plays Nxh5 at ply 7 (2 seconds on a PII/400) and sticks with it, which is a little surprising, because it often isn't terribly aggressive about kingside attacks. --Jon
