Subject: Off-topic posts (from the moderators of CCC)

Author: Robert Hyatt

This is written to serve as a simple statement of CCC policy on
off-topic posts.

An off-topic post (this "Bring Rolfie back" thread is one example) is
going to result in two actions being taken, from this point forward:

1. The post is going to be immediately removed from the server, along
    with any follow-ups to it.

2. the poster will receive a single warning by email to not post on
    that (or similar/related topics) again.

If the poster ceases, all is well. But a second post on the same
topic, written after the warning letter, will result in that person's
removal from CCC.

The bottom line:

Keep posts related to computer chess, as we all intended when we started
CCC. A single warning should suffice to stifle an off-topic thread. If
it is not enough, removal will follow, which will definitely stop the
problem.

I'd like to see us avoid having to do this at all. If everyone will
cooperate, no warnings need be issued at all, much less removing someone
from CCC.

Please strive to discuss chess, *not* people and personalities and "old
news". Otherwise this is going to turn into a clone of r.g.c.c, which
was not the original intent.

The Moderators of CCC thank everyone for following these guidelines.
