I really doubt, that extending the arrays of the search engine to a maximum depth of 60 or more plys is a very reasonable thing to do. May be it's impressive to watch the max on the display, but IMO it's very unlikely that these distant nodes have some influence on the search (except for slowing it down on some architectures). A virtual advantage is that the author can claim "program can in principle solve a mate in 29", what looks quite impressive. Other programs (e.g. Genius) seem to go the opposite way, cutting the maximum depth below the physical max in order to save the generation of some nodes. Any comments, Ed ? Regards, Uli
