Besides which, it keeps people from easily installing their stuff on a friend's
machine.  And lets be realistic, most people can't burn a CD (at least I can't).
And the matter of buying more engines and maybe needing to check the CD more
often?  No, it's the interface that's asking you to check, not the engine.
