This annoyed me, as always, so I launched the Fritz 5.32 program, and tried to load the Fritz 6 engine - and I was asked to confirm. So I had to go get the CD. Today I launched the Fritz 6 program, and when I wanted to switch to using the Hiarcs engine I was asked for the original Hiarcs CD. So I think it is the engine. So if I buy Junior and Nimzo I guess I would get to have even more fun swapping CDs. This is the extra appreciation you get for buying multiple products. I'm also willing to bet that the overwhelming majority of the small group of computer chess people either has, has access to, or knows some other computer owner who could burn a CD for them. I don't have a CD burner at home yet, but I have three here at the office, and I know a great many people who have them. Etc. It is no longer an effective means of copy protection, and Chessbase is the only company I know of that does this. But it is effective at being annoying.
