I think I now how you feel. What I am doing lately is identify some weaker (exe:
francesca, ozwald, pierre, etc...) winboard programs and play against them in a
tournament format. I ususally include some stronger ones also to make it
challenging. This mix lets me win some matches but still have a lot of
challenge. Finding the right balance is difficult and takes some time. Before
including an engine, I play them some 'non-tournament' matches and if they are
too tactical or for some other reason I do not like their style, I do not
include them.

Not a change I would understand the differences in top programs, but I like to
play them from time to time. Best regards,
