Hi. I am writing a general info article and my basic premise is that since computers gain a speed factor of 10 every 5 years, a new application becomes possible.So... if I consider PC era starting in 1980, then I need applications that became possible in 1980,1985,1990,1995,2000,2005 since each 5 year increment represents a order of magnitude increase. For example, my year 2000 application is voice recognition which became pragmatic with 700 Mhz and 128 Mb Ram. I am thinking the 1980 application is the spreadsheet (I believe called VisiCalc). Any ideas for the application that became possible and implemented in the other 5 year milestones?
