I guess that general.ctg is the book that Fritz6 used in chessfun's tournament. The results of this tournaments suggest that Fritz6 has a better book than Junior6. simple calculation gave the following: Fritzbook+Fritz engines(Fritz6,Fritz65.32,Fritz5.16,Fritz4) 145.5 out of 280 Junior book+ Fritz engines(Fritz6,Fritz5.32,Fritz6old,Fritz4) 142.5 out of 180. Fritz6old is probably better than Fritz5.16. >Nimzo's and Junior's books are excellent, so I often let programs like Fritz, >Crafty or even Hiarcs use those. I have not Junior6's book but I am not impressed by Junior's book. I believe that people prefer the Junior's book only because of the fact that GM is involved in the project. I saw some of Junior's games and it seems to me that alterman did not work seriously in the book I saw a game when Junior had evaluation of mate against itself out of book. http://www.gambitsoft.de/wwwforum/messages/14795.html Did you see something like that with the Fritz6 general book?
