Shep & Uri (and any others) Since your discussion has mentioned books, please answer a novice's question regarding books. From your discussion I gather the opening book is critical to the quality of game an engine plays. Is the Fritz powerbook a better opening book than general? Should I consider Chessbase's EOC a better value? Finally, does the game database have any effect on the quality of the game played by a particular. For instance, I have both CB7 and Fritz6. Would it matter to Fritz which game database it used? If the opening book determines the opening strategy and since Fritz' internal calculations determines subsequent play after "out of book" what role does the game database play? Thanks for any advice James On August 02, 2000 at 08:09:44, Shep wrote: >On August 02, 2000 at 03:35:03, Terry Ripple wrote: > >> Why is it that you didn't allow Fritz to play with it's own book which is >>supposed to be very good?
