Well TSCP is an excellent resource as a working implementation of alpha-beta.
A very good URL you might like is: http://www.xs4all.nl/~verhelst/chess  If
you follow the "Chess Tree Searching" link, there's a good description of many
different approaches, with little bits of pseudocode for some of them.

In general, look at the Computer Chess Resource Centre link at the top of
the CCC index. Follow the Programming Methods and Studies for some information
on alpha-beta etc.
