Subject: Problems with Chess programs and Windows 2000

I recently switched back to Windows 2000, and to my surprise, it handles
computer chess very poorly...

I find that the programs I use, don't search as deep, the knps go way down, when
using tablebases.. and I am using the exact same settings as in Win98!!!

What could be causing this? I have more than enough ram, and I specify enough
tablebase cache..

Win98 doesn't seem to have any problems.. yet Win2k does...

Can anyone answer this?
