The only suggestion I could make is Winboard Plus, which is Winboard with some
modifications.  I've never tried it because the description of it didn't sound
like it was a big advantage for me, but I think I've heard that other people
like it.  I don't have the url, sorry.  But you're probably looking for
something that isn't like Winboard, and Plus wouldn't be what you want in that
case.

I don't know why there aren't more programs that are free and do Winboard's job,
that's always confused me.  If you put out a program that did nothing but acted
as an interface like Winboard, and didn't even have the ability to play games
online, there would still be allot of people who'd be glad to use it.  Because
as good as Winboard is, you can get tired of looking at it after a while when
you use Winboard engines often enough.
