Why not? You mean you don't like this programs specifically, or you want
something simpler? So what more respect to winboard you want and what "less"
respect to the free demo of (some of) this database?

Well, it depends on what you define "cheap" I guess that Fritz 5.32 sells at a
bit less than Fritz 6 and works fine as interface to Winboard.

Another option is to wait a little bit, next release of ChessMaster should
support the winboard engines and, even if will start selling at >40$ could be
probably soon foun around at ~30$.
