The engine needs to find tactics in order to set them up for the opponent. At the same time the interface tries to select only shots that are instructive, e.g. if you trade off a defending piece of the opponent then you can capture a pawn or fork two pieces. There is a large amount of computing involved, so the faster the engine the better.
