Hi,

You're missing my point completely.  All I was trying to say was that I'd much
rather have a program that played at what I would call a legitimate 2000
strength than one that plays at 2600 on average, but given certain positions
will play like absolute crap.

I don't want to nit-pick over the details, but someone who didn't even know how
to play chess really could draw one of the top programs out of the opening if
they were shown how to do it .. not necessarily a specific line, but certain
sorts of systems against specific openings which the computer doesn't understand
that you can lock the pawns for and just randomly move pieces around until a
draw is reached.  They might not be able to do this consistently at all, but any
human of any notable strength would never ever fall for such crap.
