I have currently in my office 4 AMD K6-2 processors. Never had any problem with
them. Before that, I had some AMD K5 and AMD 386 and 486.

The only problem I can remember is that the AMD 486-133MHz did not work on one
motherboard. But it worked fine anywhere else I have tried.

I had no problem with the other AMD processors I owned. If I count them, I think
I have been using 6 or 7 of them in the last years. So I can say I have some
experience with them.

Chess Tiger has been developped 80% of the time on AMD processors. It started in
1992 with the 386dx-40MHz (when Intel was only supplying 386dx-33MHz
processors).

On the other hand, just yesterday, a friend of mine had a problem with a P166
not working on a motherboard, when it was doing fine on another one. I have had
myself problems with Intel processors in the past.

I am going to build a new test computer with old spare parts I have in the
office. The only thing missing now is the processor (I have everything else). So
I'm going to buy a K6-2 500MHz today.

And Chess Tiger runs 10% faster on K6-2 than on a PIII of the same clock
frequency.

My opinion: AMD processors are cheaper, run faster, and are of the same quality
than Intel processors. And since several years.
