I guess it would really depend on how off topic it was. If it still had a
general census of computer chess, I would allow it ( 3 ), but if it really had
nothing to do with "Computer Chess" then I would likely to be less tolerant ( 8
)

Well I would speak to my other moderators about the individual, and see what the
others feel about the situation. I really don't see this much on this board, but
if it were to ever happen while I was a moderator, I would first give a warning,
possibly recommend a suspension, and if the individual continued, I would
recommend to my other moderators that he be removed from the board.

I believe that everyone has an opinion whether is be against my own. That is a
right I believe that everyone has. If one were to post about "moderation" and it
was in good taste, and was not "bashing" the board, or another moderator, I
would let it go.

I think atleast 2 out of 3. That way it is not one person possibly going on a
"power trip" or possibly taking harsh feeling out on one person.

>5) How many moderators should agree before a member is

All 3 for sure. This would definately have to be a group decision, as it affects
the board directly. Although, if one moderator is let's say next door neighbours
with the person causing a problem, than I think that person should excuse
himdelf from that discussion.

>6) If a member "flies off the handle" (i.e. starts cursing

Well I don't believe that swearing belongs on a public board. I would talk to
another moderator, and if both of us think it is warranted, I would remove the
post, and email the user in question, and let him/her know that it will not be
tolerated in the future.

If I am outvoted, well then I would do nothing. In today's society, the majority
rules. No matter how strongly I feel about the situation. I am sure they have
their own feelings on it, and if 2 people feel that strongly about it, so be it.

>8) If someone posts some information on a human chess tournament,

I would wait. I would see what the general feeling of the post is. Most of the
users here, know what is relevant, and what is not. I see no need to butt in, if
the rest of the people do not mind, as if could be interesting to some.

>9) If you ask a thread to stop and one of the prticipants posts
>that he disagrees with your directive, what, if anything, would you do?

I would simply ask why he felt the need to continue a thread that I asked to
stop. If he didn't give me a reasonable response, I would talk the situation
over with my fellow moderators, as to what action should be taken.

>10) If a member of CCC were to go to the chess newsgroups and constantly

Simple. I would ask the person to stop, and if continued, I would ask the other
moderators if a removal of use would be in order. Moderators are a team. We
should act like one, and make decisions together. One person can not decide the
fate of another. That would not be fair.
