If you followed the configuration suggested by Frank it probably wasn't a fluke.
Dann Corbit is conducting a comprehensive tournament to try and estimate the
strength of the freely available WinBoard engines. Until that has been
completed, try this page:

Here most programs are divided into four categories according to estimated
strength. The estimation probably isn't completely accurate, but it works as a
pointer. I don't know if that helps.
