Endgame Tablebases are the _definitive_ knowledge. They tell you exactly what you want to know as fast and cheep(time and processor wise) as anything. I don't think any one is going to encode special knowledge other than the tablebases because it _is_ the best way. Although, being an amature at this, I could easily be wrong. > >ps, pls forgive my ignorance but as far as i know screamer is a macintosh >program , do you have any plan to port it for windows by any chance? I don't know windows. I can use it (at work) but I know nothing about programming it and don't plan to port Screamer or Ad_Hoc (the bitboard version of Screamer) to another platform. I do plan to convert it to OS X. Also, with the new dual processor G4's, maybe try to learn some multiprocessing. William wbryant@ix.netcom.com
