This is what Alice had to say about the third position. Note that the times and node counts after each iteration are *not* cumulative; I get a total time of approx. 13 min. (In "mating mood" it took 12 sec.) I realize that this doesn't compare to the times others get, but it's a start :) The algorithm is vanilla (full width) alpha-beta with check extensions. It runs on a K6-3 400 with 1M hash entries. It uses a simple board representation (no bitboards yet, but that is top of the wish list). (The additional '#' signs in the PV are a known error stemming from qsearch. The other two positions weren't solved in reasonable time.) Cheers, Sven. init #3R1B1K/5p2/2p2p2/b1rPNP1n/q1rkNP2/1Pp2Q2/1n6/5B2/w ??? #1B1N4/p2n4/3P1P2/2nk1BP1/P7/N7/K3P2P/1Q6/w ??? kbb2rr1/1p6/p3p1q1/PN1pB3/1n6/R3Q3/5PB1/6K1/w ??? +---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+ 8|*K |*B.|*B | .| |*R.|*R | .| +---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+ 7| .|*P | .| | .| | .| | +---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+ 6|*P | .| | .|*P | .|*Q | .| +---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+ 5| P.| N | .|*P | B.| | .| | +---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+ 4| |*N.| | .| | .| | .| +---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+ 3| R.| | .| | Q.| | .| | +---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+ 2| | .| | .| | P.| B | .| +---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+ 1| .| | .| | .| | K.| | +---+---+---+---+---+---+---+---+ a b c d e f g h Best Move: ???
