Is there more interest in computer chess relative to interest in computers in
other games like go or backgammon?

I am interested in computer chess because I know this game better than other
games but I am not sure if chess is the most popular thinking game.

I also read here that the general public's opinion is that chess is solved after
Deeper blue won kasparov and they are simply not interested in chess so I do not
see that the interest in computer chess is high.

These people are also not interested in thinking games because everyone who is
interested in thinking games will never think that a game is solved only because
computers won the best human player and they can understand that there is an
interest in comp-comp games even if humans have no chance against computers.

People who are interested in thinking games understand that a game is solved
only when a computer can tell for every position if it is a win or a draw.
