Hi Chris, nice job you intend to do. But I have to warn you: you will face some problems. As far as I saw last time the SSDF database - despite Tony Hedlunds efforts to change this - still has no unified way of - naming the programs - describing processor speed - describing hash table size (the latter missing totally) So some essential information showing how fast a "P90" really was due to all possible hardware differences is missing. So you have to take all this 'cum grano salis'... The biggest problem of all is that many if not most of the SSDF-testers are still unable or unwilling to put their games into a common database format like pgn, cbh or cbf and send them to Tony Hedlund in *any* form: so *most* games until today *never* appear in this very useful database. I just hint at all this to prevent you from experiencing some disappointment I experienced myself not long ago. After all I'm still glad Tony Hedlund is providing us all with what he gets and thank him very much. And I am really curious to see your results concerning the possible effects of using different harware platforms - even if the database for doing so raises some problems itself... So thanks in advance for having a closer look, kind regards from Dirk
