This time is only well spend if the stored hash positions are also used. On short time the chance that you use most records is not very likely. Since humans move slowly than computers on fast tc's you will also win more against them... (You can also ponder longer against humans). I noticed the same problem with using tablebases. It takes time (i/o, etc) to read tablebases. So althoug I play perfectly I sometimes loose on time with my program. Michel
